In Kingfisher, we have been learning how to cross the road safely and correctly. We have looked at the Green Cross Code together and safely walked across the zebra crossing at school. The children came up with fantastic rhymes and ways to remember how to cross safely.

Week beginning: 25/11/19
In Maths this week, we have been exploring more than one quantity through 1:1 correspondence and finding the difference. We have used this to find out 'how many more, fewer or less'. We used the cubes to estimate/measure and then to find the difference.

WOW day to Whipsnade Zoo! 18/11/19
What a fantastic day Year 1 have had today. For our WOW day this year, we visited Whipsnade Zoo to find out lots of information about the animals that live there. We have been learning about various animals and habitats in Science, so enjoyed extending our knowledge and learning new facts. We loved exploring for the day and seeing our favourite animals. Take a look at our brilliant pictures!

Anti-Bullying Week - 11/11/19
For Anti-Bullying Week, Kingfisher class had many discussions about kindness, how to be a good friend and what to do if we have a problem.
On Tuesday, we wore odd socks to school to celebrate what makes us all unique! We had fab socks in Kingfisher class!
11/11/19 - Recounts
In English this week, we have been learning about the features of a recount. The children have been looking time adverbs, where to use them in their writing and sequencing them correctly.
WOW! What a busy first half term. The children have really settled into their new classroom and have transitioned well into Year 1.
This half term we have been learning lots of new and exciting things.
In English, we have looked at lots of lovely stories. We have focused on 'Wolf Won't Bite' and 'Farmer Duck'. We have been writing our own stories, learning how to structure sentences and building on our vocabulary.
In Maths this half term, we have been looking at number bonds to 10, addition and subtraction and ordering numbers by size. The children have been learning mental strategies, as well as using the manipulatives to support their understanding. We have taken our learning outside and used practical maths where possible.
