Gabriella Wesley, Teacher - Year 2 (Swallow)

I joined Bridgewater School in September 2016, after completing my teaching degree. I have taught Year 1 since joining the school and always marvel at the way children are so keen to learn new things. We encourage the children to work hard and to strive to be the best person they can be.

Throughout my time at Bridgewater I have been leading the School Council. We meet regularly to discuss any views from their peers, with the aim of improving the school. I have also supported the Year 5 and 6 netball team with their training and various matches against other schools.

I have a passion for children's mental health and aim to make the children resilient, independent learners.

Outside school I enjoy teaching swimming, which I have done since 2010. I also enjoy travel and walking. My most recent adventure was to India, where I was lucky enough to be a guest at an Indian wedding.

My favourite part of teaching is when the children have those 'light bulb' moments and they feel so proud of themselves to share what they have achieved. We have a good team at the school, with a real family feel to it. It is a pleasure to teach at such a great school.
