Matthew Griffiths, Teacher - Year 1 (Kingfisher) & Key Stage 1 Phase Lead
I am delighted to be teaching Year 1 and overseeing Key Stage 1 this year.
Whilst training to be a teacher, I was a football coach which I loved, because I had a passion for sport and quite a competitive nature! In 2016, I began my teaching career at Bridgewater and have since enjoyed teaching Year 3 and Year 6. At Bridgewater, I love how everyone works together and how we collectively celebrate successes across the curriculum and outside of school.
One of my most memorable moments as a teacher was seeing Year 6 children conquer their fear of heights during a residential trip. This summed up their determination to overcome obstacles that they faced both during lessons and in real life situations. Inspirational courage, which I hope to instil in all pupils I teach.
I look forward to seeing the children in Year 1 and Year 2 develop as independent learners and make progress across the curriculum this year. The school values, particularly determination, growth and enrichment, are vital in this process. I have no doubt that with a positive mindset every child will be successful.
