Financial support for families
Free School Meals and Pupil Premium
If you are eligible for certain benefits, you may be able to receive free school meals for your child and the school will receive Pupil Premium funding, which is given to schools to help pupils reach their full potential.
If your child already has a free school meal because they are in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 (Universal Free School Meals), it is still important that you apply for free school meal funding, as your child could be eligible for Pupil Premium funding, which in 2021-22 was worth £1,385 per pupil who qualifies and would be used to support your child's education.
Click here to check your eligibility for Free School Meals. It only takes 5 minutes to apply. If you would prefer us to do that on your behalf please contact the school office on 01442 871 231 or admin@bridgewater.herts.sch.uk.
Bridgewater Family Relief Fund
In November 2022 Bridgewater set up a new relief fund to assit families who are struggling financially, but who may not be eligible for Pupil Premium, as we recognise that more of our families may be facing financial hardship during the current cost of living crisis.
This fund will be used at the discretion of the Headteacher, to financially support families with costs linked to their child’s education. Examples of how the fund could be used are:
- Contribution towards residential trips
- Contribution towards WOW days
- Contribution towards uniform
The BSA have kindly agreed to contribute £500 a year to support this fund and other parents would be welcome to make a contribution directly to the fund, if they feel able to. Donations can be made via the Arbor Parent App.
If you feel you need financial assistance please contact the Headteacher, Mrs Bettridge, in confidence - Head@bridgewater.herts.sch.uk
