Reduce, re-use, re-cycle! Look at what we have made using recyclable materials. How did we join the materials? What materials did we use? Mrs Beaumont brought a dress into school that her daughter made using plastic bags!
Sports Day Fun - 25th June
W.B 21.6.21 Sports week
What a fun week we have had! We have tried so many different Sports.... We started with Football . We practiced some skills and talked about the Euros. We made flags to support England( and Germany and Denmark !) Tuesday we tried our hand at tennis and talked about the rules and how to hold the racquet. Thursday we had a visitor. Ella came in again to show us how to play wheelchair basketball and we all had a go( or several goes) in her special wheelchairs. It was tricky . We concluded that it is hard work using your arms all day every day! We practiced swimming on the carpet just using our arms.Thursday afternoon we tried hockey. We dribbled the ball and learnt how to hold the stick and control the ball safely. Friday we have our Sports day which we are all so looking forward to. We are going to sleep on Saturday after all the exercise. We have talked about looking after our bodies and healthy eating too.
Here are some of our sporting activities.
WB 14th June - Circus Skills
Roll up! Roll up! Have a look at the fun we had during our circus week. On Monday we had our WOW day ... and it really was WOW! Mike came to school and taught us some circus skills. We learnt how to juggle with scarves and beanbags, plate spin, balance peacock feathers on our hands or fingers, walk on stilts, use pedal gos (which help people learn how to use a unicycle) and how to roll and toss African flower sticks.
At the end of the day Mike showed us some of the skills and tricks he does when the circus is in town. He juggled with fire, juggled with glass balls and threw a diablo higher than the trees and managed to catch it again!
We made clown puppets using split pins, made clown faces with shapes, made 3D clay Biscuit Bears and made our own individual bowl of salt dough to make flat Biscuit Bears. We even had time to count 492 counters!
W.B 7.6.21 Biscuit Bear week
We have been exploring a new story- Biscuit Bear by Mini Grey. In the story Biscuit Bear makes lots of friends out of pastry and they have a secret circus in the kitchen. We have loved exploring the circus. We have made posters and tickets for the circus and we have been practising our circus skills with lots of balancing and juggling. We have painted circus tents and we have already done some performing. We have also been working on our Bug Hotel and we have added new rooms for the bugs. We are looking forward to next week and our Circus skills Wow Day!
Look at the fun we have had this week
Family Learning fantasy mini beasts.......updated. Thank you for sharing :-)
W.B 17.5.21 Mini Beast week.
What fun we have had this week learning about different Mini beasts. We have learnt about Non -fiction books and looked at the contents and index. We have learnt facts about minis beasts. We have made the life cycle of the Butterfly using things we found in the meadow and we have written our very own Goldcrest Non -fiction book together. We have explored number bonds to 10 and recorded in our own way. We have done a Mini beast bug hunt and found lots of bugs in the pond area. We found an enormous slug under a rock! Much excitement too as our very own caterpillars have arrived for us to look after and watch develop. As well as all this we have climbed trees, dug rivers in the mud pit and some of us chalked a whole mini beast kingdom.
Here are some of our adventures this week
W.B 10.5.21 The Very Hungry Caterpillar week.
We have had such fun this week. We have been reading and exploring the "Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle.
We have written the story, made our own story map, we have explored symmetry using painting Butterflies and we have made caterpillars and cocoons and bugs using folding and scrolling techniques. We explored how Eric Carle makes the paper that he then uses for his collage and we have experimented with different painting techniques to make our own butterflies. We read the Hungry caterpillar story in English, French and German and we have listened to it in Welsh, Japanese and Spanish. we have loved learning the word for Butterfly:- in French- Papillion , German - Smetterling, Spanish- mariposa , Japanese- Chou Chou and Welsh-Pili pala. It's amazing how we could understand without knowing all the words. We have explored doubling and halving this week too and have made great ladybirds that have the same number of spots on each side and then have a total in the middle. We listened to a German Rock band and today we had our very own Goldcrest Rock band! What fun!
