Ross Hyland-McCourt, Associate
Role on the Board:
I joined the governing body in May 2025 as an Associate Governor.
Professional Skills/Background:
My early career was in medical regulation and education, but for the past twenty years, I’ve worked in various roles within the Out-of-Home advertising industry. I was previously part of an award-winning sales and insight team at a national media owner. Currently, I work for an AdTech company that provides software solutions and consultancy to some of the world’s largest media owners. As part of the EMEA commercial team, my responsibilities span business development, software design, project management, training, and product management.
I’m a parent to twins who are about to leave Year 6, and another child who will soon be starting Reception at Bridgewater. Since my eldest children joined the school in 2018, I’ve been actively involved in school life, volunteering in the library and at various BSA events.
Interest in Being a Governor:
Both of my parents were involved in primary education—my mam was a headteacher at several schools in rural Durham, and my dad served as a governor at my former junior school for over thirty years. As a child, I didn’t think much of it, but becoming a parent myself and talking with them about the positive impact an engaged governing body can have on a school inspired me to get involved.
Quote for the Children:
