Outdoor Learning Day
We had a great time at Outdoor Learning Day and enjoyed being outside in the sunny weather. We started off the day with a maths activity. We collected sticks from the wood and then used them to make 2D shapes on the playground. We wrote the names of the shapes and their properties next to them with chalk.
We then revised measurement. We had different items outside to measure. We had to think carefully about where to place our ruler and the unit of measurement.
After break we used some of the sticks to make dream catchers. We practised tying knots and chose our thread colours. We knots tricky but we persevered!
We all enjoyed a picnic lunch on the field. After lunch we went on a leaf hunt around the school grounds. We recorded the tree species that we found and then created a dichotomous key to identify them.
We finished our busy day by having a rest and spotting different shapes/objects in the clouds.
We had a great day!
