I've enjoyed being a teacher for the last 10 years, and I look forward to my first year working at Bridgewater Primary School. I have a young son and my husband & I live in Berkhamsted, and I’m very excited to be working in my home community.
Previously I have worked as a Year 4 teacher in West London for the last 4 years. Prior to that I had spent 4 years in China and Hong Kong teaching Year 3 & Reception. I began my teaching career in my home state of Florida, USA where I taught Year 5. I have very much enjoyed the experience of travelling and working in different countries.
Outside of school I enjoy many different activities with my young family. We have travelled extensively in Asia, Europe and South America, picking up recipes that I enjoy cooking at home. We like the outdoors and regularly camp around the UK and can be found hiking around the local area. I run cross-country and spend time at the pool swimming laps or lessons with my son. As an avid reader of fiction and non-fiction, I believe that fostering reading for pleasure at an early age leads to lifelong readers. I adore reading and storytelling and have always shared this passion with my classes and now with my family in the evenings.
As a teacher I celebrate each child’s diversity and success whilst having high expectations to promote achievement for all the children in the classroom. I strive to provide authentic learning opportunities that are active and engaging, therefore encouraging children to be involved in their own learning by reflecting on their learning, as I reflect on my own teaching quality.
