Robin Attfield, Associate
Role on Board:
Associate Governor
Professional skills / background:
I have spent my entire career in education, teaching children of all abilities and all ages in special and mainstream schools. Although qualified as a primary school teacher, I have taught infants, A level and university students and served as a headteacher and senior inspector-adviser in a large shire county in the north of England. I was responsible nationally for the qualification for headteachers (NPQH) at the National College for School Leadership (NCSL). For much of the last 15 years, I have worked internationally (with some time back in the UK leading in an international school) at national, state and school levels. For example, I developed and provided the training for inspectors in Jamaica, and leadership training for headteachers in a number of states in India.
Interest in being a Governor:
As a local authority school adviser, I worked with many governing bodies and know the
importance and potential of their role to support school improvement, and served as a governor in a school in Nottingham while working at NCSL. I now have more time, and plenty of enthusiasm, to contribute to a school locally.
Advice / quote for children at Bridgewater School:
A smile and a positive attitude will take you a long way bringing happiness to you and those around you.
